Embryonic (primitive) connective
tissue
- Mesenchyme: Begin by
examining these two embryo sections:
mid-section, hamster
and rabbit fetus,
(image to the right). Locate regions of mesenchyme within and
around the developing organs using high magnification.
- Mucoid CT: Examine this
section of
umbilical cord for another example embryonic connective
tissue, mucoid connective tissue. This type of connective tissue
contains fibroblasts within a viscous extracellular matrix,
which functions to support and cushion the blood vessels within
the umbilical cord.
Let's now take a look at
connective tissue proper. |
