Below is a sample of a complete blood cell count report - CBC.
  • The entire blood count is pretty complicated, but remember it includes all of the formed elements: white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.
  • For now, we're going to focus on the top portion, that is the white blood cells and how the populations change under various conditions.
  • Both the numbers of cells, the percentage of various populations and the scatter plots give us valuable information.
  • We'll start with how the test is done in the clinical laboratory.
