Uterine (Fallopian) tubes are the first part of the
genital tract and serve as the site for fertilization and transport
of the early embryo to the uterus. Examine
sections of the oviduct (sample 1,
sample 2)
and identify the mesentery, highly vascularized serosa, the
well-developed muscularis, and highly folded mucosa.
Examine the simple columnar
epithelium at higher power and note the presence of two cell types:
- Ciliated cells
- Slightly taller, non-ciliated
secretory cells (Peg cells).
Examine two H&E stained sections of
human oviduct (sample 1,
sample 2) and note the differences between
the mucosa and muscularis in the ampulla and isthmus sections.
Now for the
uterus. |
